Engaging the Workforce of the Future: The Role of Service Industries in the SMART City

This event will examine the role of retail, tourism, hospitality and leisure sectors in the SMART City of the future.  This event addresses a neglected agenda in employment policy and planning and will:

  • Present outcomes of innovative policy, mapping research into the social and economic context of low skills work in Glasgow.
  • Explore the future of low-skills work in the wider public policy areas of economic development, urban planning, housing, education, transport and immigration.
  • Consider the future of work in the service sector and the challenges that this presents from a private-sector perspective.
