New FAI Publication: Learning Disabilities and the Economic Value of Unpaid Care

People with learning disabilities draw on different types of support to enable them to live rich and fulfilling lives. But the support given by unpaid carers is often overlooked and undervalued. Yesterday the Fraser of Allander published a new report on the economic value of unpaid care for adults with learning disabilities

They found that on average, equivalent support delivered by each unpaid carer in the sample would have cost the taxpayer £114,000 per year to deliver. The Fraser of Allander also analysed the impact of unpaid care has on family finances and wellbeing. You can read the full report Learning Disabilities and the Value of Unpaid Care and watch A Day in the Life on an Unpaid Carer.
