"Putting Microbusinesses on the Agenda: the view from policymakers" takes place on March 15 from 2-5pm. In December 2021, the PrOPEL Hub held the first event in a longer programme of work deep-diving the under-explored world of people management in microbusinesses. Output from the session is available here. This issue will be explored in the March 15 session from the point of view of policymakers. This half day workshop will involve key stakeholders such the Federation of Small Businesses, the Charted Institute for Personnel and Development and the Low Pay Commission.

On March 24 Empowering people to drive innovation in high-tech manufacturing will see Peak Scientific founder and chairman Robin MacGeachy share insights on how Peak Scientific has embraced organisational transformation, shifting from a centralised engineering department to a distributed model where multiple work groups and teams are empowered to collaborate and drive innovation. Peak Scientific is a leading innovator in the design, manufacture and support of high performance gas generators for analytical laboratories. Head-quartered in Glasgow, Peak Scientific has a significant local presence on every continent with 20 overseas offices and employs more than 650 people worldwide. The first overseas manufacturing facility opened in Shanghai last year.  Driving innovation in manufacturing, world class technical support and on-going service care is crucial to Peak Scientific’s business model. That means empowering people across teams to lead and innovate.
