High Impact Leadership programme takes lessons from sporting figures

An online leadership programme drawing on the experience of World Cup winners and elite sportspeople is being launched by Strathclyde Business School.

The High Impact Leadership Programme will be taught by academics from Strathclyde and Longford International College as well as having input from well-known names such as former Germany manager and world cup winner Jurgen Klinsmann and former Manchester United head coach and Champions League winner Mike Phelan who will draw on their experiences in elite sport to explore leadership skills for the complex and dynamic modern workplace. The programme will also feature Karen Carney, professional football pundit, commentator & former player; Ebru Koksal, financial analyst and Chair of the progressive organisation 'Women in Football' who are driving for positive change in the sporting industry; and Dave Horrocks, Research & Development Director at Manchester United.

The High Performance Leadership programme has been designed to upskill leaders in creating and managing complex teams, through lessons learned from elite sport.

The High Impact Leadership Programme is aimed at executives with significant experience in leadership roles. The programme welcomes participants from all functions and units within all sectors and will benefit a range of candidates – from C-suite leaders, high-potentials or experienced technical specialists who have come to leadership positions later in their careers to those trying to understand how leadership relates to performance.

The programme uses a range of perspectives, tools, frameworks and styles needed to make both incremental and transformational change. Participants will learn how to lead across cultures, and how to lead and respond to personal, organisational and societal change.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of their own leadership style and how to use it to impact and drive their organisation’s goals. The programme aims to equip participants with the ability to navigate the dynamics of leadership in an increasingly complex world, to develop and lead teams effectively and to improve the performance and effectiveness of individuals and teams.

The programme will explore the individual’s strengths and weaknesses as a leader, help them to learn to articulate that vision, examine the way decisions are made in organisations, and the role of leadership in driving change.

The programme consists of four intensive workshops delivered live via our Virtual Learning Platform and participants will learn the techniques to lead and develop the high-performance teams who will add value and purpose to their organisation.
