Business librarian elected president of European Business Schools Librarians' Group

Business Faculty Librarian, Lorna McNally, has been elected as President of the European Business Schools Librarians’ Group (EBSLG). Elected in June 2023 at the Annual Conference held at the NHH Norwegian School of Economics in Bergen, Norway, Lorna will serve as President of the group for a term of three years.

The EBSLG was formed in 1970 to provide a forum for exchanging experience and professional knowledge and consists of Library Directors and Senior Library staff from some of the top business schools in Europe. Membership of the group is open to institutions in Europe that serve an accredited and world ranked MBA programme or executive management course.

Members of the EBSLG share best practice and collaborate on a range of initiatives including statistical surveys, staff exchanges, benchmarking exercises, and the brokering of group-wide database deals with information suppliers. The ability to keep up to date with new developments and compare against other top business school libraries from across Europe ensures that Strathclyde has the best resources and services to support the staff and students of the Business School.

One of the responsibilities as President is to develop collaboration between sister organisations in North America (ABLD), Latin America (CLADEA) and Asia Pacific and with colleagues working in Business Schools in Africa. Lorna hosted the EBSLG Conference at Strathclyde in 2017 and preparations are underway to host a joint conference for all sister organisations at WU Vienna University of Business & Economics in 2025.
