Students meet India High Commissioner to the UK
Strathclyde Business School students had the chance to meet the India High Commissioner to the UK when he visited the University last week as part of a series of engagements in Scotland.
His Excellency Mr Vikram K. Doraiswami was accompanied by the Consul General of India (CGI), Edinburgh, Mr Bijay Selvaraj; Consul, Mr Satya Veer Singh; and Mr Shashi Bhushan, Second Secretary from the High Commission of India, London.
University Secretary Dr Stuart Fancey was joined by Professor David Hillier, Executive Dean of Strathclyde Business School; Dr Sreevas Sahasranamam, Associate Professor, Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship; Mr Manish Joshi, Chief Executive of Strathclyde University Students Association; Dr Poonam Malik, Head of Investment; and Mrs Aparna Ramesh, Honorary Hindu Chaplain, to greet the guests.
Mr Doraiswami met with the Strathclyde Indian Students Association as well as a range of students from across the university, talking to them about life in the UK and challenges that the student community can face. There was appreciation of the work Strathclyde did for the Indian students during Covid through hardship funds and other forms of support.
Dr Sahasranamam said, "It was great to host the Indian High Commissioner to the UK, H. E. Vikram K. Doraiswami at the University of Strathclyde. I was super impressed by his energy levels and appreciate his efforts to make time for interacting with our Indian students in the Business School."
