SBS academic attends event to honour editor

Dr Julia Smith, Department of Accounting & Finance, recently attended an event (October 5-6) to celebrate the career of Zoltán Ács, founding editor of Small Business Economics: An Entrepreneurship Journal.

At the personal invitation of Zoltan, Julia was invited to visit the Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) in Budapest for the research colloquium which centred on Zoltan’s work, focusing on the building of an entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Speakers at the gathering included Zoltán Szalai, Director of MCC, László Szerb, co-author and Chair of the event; David Audretsch, who gave the laudation; András Takács, Dean of Faculty of Business and Economics University of Pécs; and long-time friends and co-workers, Roy Thurik and David Audretsch, current Editor-in-Chief of Small Business Economics.

The meeting included a Zoom presentation live from the University of Pécs, Hungary, where the donation of Zoltan’s book collection was accepted into the Library.
