Student is finalist in Black Scottish Awards 2023

Undergraduate student Chizulum Ifezulike has made it to the final of The Black Scottish Awards 2023 which celebrate the achievements of black people in Scotland. The award ceremony takes place on October 28 in Edinburgh and will celebrate the successes of individuals, groups and organisations making a difference in Scotland.

Chizulum, a Business Enterprise and Economics student at Strathclyde Business School, is a finalist in the 'Sir Geoff Palmer Outstanding Student of the Year' category. Sir Geoff Palmer was Scotland's first Black professor in 1989. This award is open to individuals in their final year of higher education or who graduated after 2021. The award wants to recognise those “who shine above all, those who have achieved academic excellence and also supported their peers and are a major value add to their universities/colleges”.

Chizulum said, "Becoming a finalist for this award is an incredible feeling, especially for Black History Month. I hope to inspire both black and non-black students, showing them that they can achieve greatness in their academics without any limitations."
