The inaugural Black Scottish Awards 2023 celebrate the achievements of black people in Scotland. The award ceremony took place on October 28 in Edinburgh and celebrated the successes of individuals, groups and organisations making a difference in Scotland.
Sir Geoff Palmer was Scotland's first Black professor in 1989. This award was open to individuals in their final year of higher education or who graduated after 2021. The award recognises those “who shine above all, those who have achieved academic excellence and also supported their peers and are a major value add to their universities/colleges”.
Chizulum said, "I hope for all students to know that there is no limit to your academic success; the only limits that truly exist are the ones you place on yourself so remove any boundaries your way and aspire for greatness.”
