Amplify Bootcamp benefits Strathclyde Accounting and Finance students

The Department of Accounting and Finance and AmplifyME welcomed over 250 undergraduate and postgraduate (PGT) finance students for the annual Amplify Bootcamp which provides real life investment banking training.
Participants on the bootcamp, which ran from January 8-13, honed their skills in various simulations such as trading, market making, and asset management. On a very lively final day on campus, participants completed an IPO roadshow and book building with the guidance of Amplify’s Saif Ali (Product Manager) and Emre Ekim (Trainer Specialist & Institution Relations).
Rachel Pooley from the Careers Service was in attendance and presented to the students highlighting all the benefits Amplify has to a student’s CV. She also invited those in attendance to specialised events in investment and banking.
The day culminated in an awards ceremony for the best performers in each category and the most successful IPO team. They were:
Best ReTrader: Hugo Pattison
Best Asset Manager: Ross McDade
Best Market Maker Trader: Akanksha Gupta
Best Hedge Fund Trader: Luke Hamilton
Best Live Sales Market Trader: Declan McKenzie
Best M&A Analyst: Aditya Sakpal
Best Investment Bank Team: Thrifting
Saif congratulated all participants and noted that it was incredible to see over 300 unique students taking part in at least one simulation with over 250 students receiving the level 5 Diploma certificate upon completion of the Bootcamp. Well done to all participants!
Saif said, "Thank you to all the students who attended the bootcamp! Over the week we took a 360 degree look at the financial industry via practical hands-on simulations. The tenacity and intellectual curiosity of all the students who participated made this programme a huge success and a pleasure to deliver. I would also like to thank the team at Strathclyde for organising the bootcamp and supporting students on their educational and professional journey!”
