SBS announces second Space Cyber Security Executive Course

Strathclyde Business School is set to hold a second Space Cyber Security course from September 9 to 11 following the successful launch of its first cybersecurity course in May.

Dr Sharon Lemac-Vincere from the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship developed the three-day executive course in collaboration with the International Space University (ISU). The inaugural course, the first of its kind in Scotland, was paired with a two-day conference, creating a dynamic week dedicated to Space Cyber Security.

Dr Lemac-Vincere said, "The positive response to our initial course and conference underscored the need for advanced training in this growing field. We're excited to expand our offerings and continue leading in space cybersecurity education."

She added, "I'm delighted to announce for our September 2024 course that we will continue to work with the Inernational Space University and will also be partnering with Space-Comm Expo, which is making its Scotland debut on September 11 and12. This collaboration offers a platform to highlight the importance of robust security measures across the space ecosystem.

"A highlight of our executive programme is its practical application, and working with Space-Comm Expo creates a unique opportunity for our executives to take to the stage and share their views on cybersecurity directly to the space sector, at the end of this course. This is a first for us all."

Professor Nicolas Peter, ISU, said, "Every space company is vulnerable to cybersecurity threats, so we need to educate the workforce of today and tomorrow on this critical issue."

Ruchi Nema, head of content for the Space-Comm Expo series, said, "We are thrilled to partner with the University of Strathclyde and the International Space University as we host our first event in Scotland. Cybersecurity remains a cornerstone of our agenda, and this partnership significantly amplifies our ability to address the complex challenges facing today’s space sector. We are eager to contribute to the global conversation on developing strategies to protect space infrastructure."
