Undergraduate student receives Lord Forte Prize

Undergraduate Anna Bennett was this year’s winner of the Lord Forte Prize. The Lord Forte Prize is awarded to the undergraduate student with the highest overall marks in Hospitality and Tourism Management for this academic session.
Anna received the prize of £2,500 alongside a trophy and certificate. She said, "I am a very practical learner and the hands-on learning experiences I have been able to partake in within Hospitality and Tourism have really been what has inspired my learning and academic progression.
"Thank you so much to the Lord Forte Foundation for this opportunity and for funding this prize."
Anna has accepted a graduate position as an account manager with Itison and said, “I look forward to starting this position with confidence that I have the necessary skills thanks to SBS and faculty staff. The people and relational skills I have developed are going to be absolutely vital in my role as I will be required to build and maintain strong relationships with business owners. Furthermore, the pitching and presenting skills developed through modules and class presentations will be invaluable to me as I try to secure new accounts.”
As well as her academic achievements, Anna also points out her time at Strathclyde has also seen her grow in confidence. She said, “I believe this is not just down to my academic studies but also my participation in sports clubs, mixing with a wide variety of students, competing on a national level and volunteering on the committee of these clubs. Most notably I was president of the strath tri club during my final year which was an added workload but one I’m very proud of how much the club grew under my leadership.”
Of her prize, she added, “As a student who has always had to juggle working alongside studies to finance costs of living the generous prize money comes as a welcome surprise. I am going to use the money to fund my upcoming trip to Brazil to attend my sister’s wedding and allow me to do some exploring of this amazing part of the world while I am there!”
