SBS Knowledge Transfer Partnerships shortlisted for Innovate UK awards
Two Strathclyde Business School Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) projects have made the final of the 2024 Innovate UK Knowledge Transfer Partnership 'Best of the Best' Awards.
Every year hundreds of applications with amazing projects that have flourished under the Innovate UK Knowledge Transfer Partnerships are received for consideration. Only highly ranked projects are invited to apply. The judging panel has reviewed all submissions and the shortlisted finalists for each category have now been announced with the final taking place on November 27 in Birmingham.
SBS has made the shortlist for the Best Management KTP Award for the University of Strathclyde/JWF Process Solutions Ltd KTP and also for the Best Impact and Transformation Award category for both JWF Process Solutions Ltd and Fishers Services Ltd.
The aim of the JWF Process Solutions KTP, which took place from 2021-2023, was to support business model transition from sensor supply to provision of a software-based data and information service sales solution, by embedding operational capability and management expertise, enabling future growth through efficient implementation and execution of business improvement processes
The Fishers KTP saw SBS working with Fishers to customise a new digitalisation solution that allowed Fishers to keep track of its luxury textile range and use the data it generates to inform the design and purchasing of linens. This was informed by our track record of research into high-value manufacturing industries. Collaborating with the Fishers team, their digital strategy was refined and the implementation process for the new digital solution was developed. SBS then worked together to optimise the new system in collaboration with ecosystem partners including large hotel chains, technology providers and suppliers.
Dr Steve Paton, Department of Management Science, who was involved in both KTPs, said, "We're delighted to see our SBS Knowledge Transfer Partnerships shortlisted for the Innovate UK awards - notably, as a single faculty, Strathclyde Business School makes the shortlist three times in two categories which is an excellent outcome."
Dr Aylin Ates, Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship, was involved in the Fishers KTP and said, "A Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) is a highly effective mechanism to enable university-industry collaboration and delivers transformative change, innovations, and impact. We are delighted to be shortlisted for the UK KTP Best of the Best Awards this year.'"
The University of Strathclyde also features in the Future Leader Award category for Mohamad Salim and his KTP with WB Alloy Welding Products Limited.
