Amplify Bootcamp benefits Accounting and Finance students

The Department of Accounting and Finance has had another successful Amplify Trading simulation event, with Piers Curran from AmplifyME running the on-campus event on the final day. Over 180 undergraduate and postgraduate (PGT) finance students took part in the annual Amplify Bootcamp which provides real life investment banking training.
Participants on the bootcamp, which ran from January 13-17, honed their skills in various simulations such as trading, market making, and asset management. On a very lively final day on campus participants completed an IPO roadshow and book building with the guidance of AmplifyME’s Piers Curran (Co-Founder, CFO & COO)
Rachel Pooley from the Careers Service was in attendance and presented to the students highlighting all the benefits Amplify has to a students CV. She also invited those in attendance to subject-specific, specialised events to follow.
The day culminated in an awards ceremony for the best performers in each category and the most successful IPO team. The categories that were awarded prizes were the following:
Individual
Best Re-Trader: Devvrata Agrawal
Best Asset Manager: Michael Milligan
Best Investment Bank Sales Trader: Po Yee Lee
Best Live Trader: Jakub Bednarek
Best M&A Analyst: Ibrokhim Aliev
Team
Best Investment Bank Team
Piers congratulated all participants and noted that it was incredible to see 214 unique students taking part in at least one simulation with over 180 students receiving the level 5 Diploma certificate upon completion of the Bootcamp.
Piers Curran said, “I thought this year's Finance Bootcamp was a huge success. As always, it is an absolute pleasure working with Strathclyde students who I find to be some of the brightest and most engaged students in the UK. Their enthusiasm when approaching each and every practical simulation experience was fantastic and generally the performance levels were hugely impressive.”
The bootcamp helps students gain real-world insights into finance and to bridge the gap between academic study and professional practice. Since the collaboration with AmplifyME began in 2020, over 1,000 Strathclyde students have experienced AmplifyME’s immersive simulations, developing practical skills and discovering their potential in roles like asset management and trading.
Well done to all participants and winners!
