Strathclyde Business School launches schools' Glasgow 850 marketing competition

Strathclyde Business School's Department of Marketing has launched a Marketing Competition for S5/6 pupils studying business in Glasgow secondary schools as part of the City of Glasgow's celebrations to mark 850 years since it was established as a burgh in 1175.
Pupils are tasked with selecting, researching and promoting a place or location within Glasgow - this could be somewhere already well known or somewhere that's a personal favourite or more locally based.
As a team of no more than six members, pupils are being asked to design an academic poster with ideas of how they would promote one particular place in Glasgow.
The task is to focus on marketing ideas such as reasons to visit, accessibility, benefits it offers to Glasgow visitors or to the local community and ideas are to be presented on an academic poster. They have to decide on a target market, come up with an image and tagline for their campaign and demonstrate some business research based on the chosen brand.
Two copies of the marketing poster should be submitted in the form of one hard copy and one electronic copy. The hard copy should be printed on A3 paper and addressed to: Department of Marketing, 2025-26 Glasgow 850 School Competition, Strathclyde Business School, Cathedral Street, Glasgow, G4 0QA while electronic PPT files should be uploaded to sbs-marketing50@strath.ac.uk. All posters, hard and electronic copies, should be submitted by 5pm on Thursday 18 September 2025 and winners will be announced by Thursday 16 October 2025.
Further information is available in schools for relevant pupils or email Elizabeth McKee, Department of Marketing: elizabeth.mckee@strath.ac.uk
