Livia Pancotto appointed Technical Adviser at the Bank for International Settlements

Strathclyde Business School’s Dr Livia Pancotto has been appointed Technical Adviser in the Monetary and Economic Department at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). Based in Basel, the BIS is the international financial institution that supports central banks and fosters global monetary and financial stability through research, policy coordination, and technical collaboration.
This prestigious and highly competitive role builds on Livia’s prior engagement with the BIS as a Research Fellow in 2023, where she contributed to policy-relevant analysis on topics such as green lending and digital credit products like Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL). As Technical Adviser, she is currently working on a cross-country research initiative on digital finance in emerging market and developing economies (EMDEs), contributing to the BIS’s broader agenda on innovation, inclusion, and financial system resilience.
Livia’s appointment reflects her growing international profile at the intersection of academic research and high-level policy work and continues SBS’s strong tradition of global engagement.
