SBS in top 40 of MBA sustainability ranking
Strathclyde Business School has been ranked in the Top 40 of the Corporate Knights’ 2025/2026 Better World MBA Ranking, which showcases business schools that are equipping future leaders with the tools to tackle urgent social and environmental challenges.
The 2025 ranking assessed 179 MBA programmes worldwide, drawn from leading global MBA listings such as the Financial Times, past Better World MBA honorees, and accredited institutions. Schools were evaluated on the proportion of core courses integrating sustainable development themes - including biodiversity, indigenous partnership models, climate finance, supply chain ethics, and equity. Alumni outcomes in impact organisations accounted for 10% of the final score.
Toby Heaps, CEO of Corporate Knights said, “The sustainable economy is expanding at twice the pace of the rest of the economy, and leading business schools are adapting accordingly. Our 2025 Better World MBA ranking shows how programmes can prepare graduates to thrive where sustainability is the growth engine.”
Associate Principal and Executive Dean of Strathclyde Business School, Professor David Hillier, said, “We're delighted to be included in this latest ranking carried out by Corporate Knights and, as a university and business school, we're proud of our record on sustainability. Sustainability is a key focus in the business world and a core value for Strathclyde which we have embedded throughout our teaching, research and operations. We aim to equip future leaders with the know-how to drive positive change in a rapidly evolving global business landscape."
The Corporate Knights 2025 ranking reveals that the UK is leading the way in sustainability: 13 of the top 40 programmes are from UK schools and the UK continues its rapid rise as a global hub for sustainability-focused business education. This represents steady growth from just eight programmes in the 2020 ranking.
Alumni career paths now count for 10% of the overall score, alongside curriculum content (90%). Programmes were evaluated on both the sustainability depth of their core courses and the proportion of graduates working at impact organisations (non-profits, clean economy firms, or sustainability leaders).
