AmplifyME Bootcamp engages students

Another successful AmplifyME Trading simulation event has been run by the Department of Accounting and Finance, with Emre Ekim from AmplifyME leading the on-campus event on the final day.

217 undergraduate and postgraduate (PGT) finance students took part in the annual AmplifyME Bootcamp which provides real life investment banking training and have been awarded a diploma certificate.

Participants on the bootcamp, which ran from January 12-16 gained new skills through various simulations such as trading, market making, and asset management.

Piers Curran, co-founder, CFO and COO of AmplifyME, said, “The Finance Bootcamp delivered exactly what today’s students need: clarity on career paths, practical experience, and exposure to how finance really works. The way Strathclyde students embraced the challenge and applied themselves throughout the week was exceptional.”

Juliane Thamm from the Department of Accounting and Finance closed the ceremony off with a few words from the Department, thanking the AmplifyME team for their efforts.

The bootcamp helps students gain real-world insights into finance and to bridge the gap between academic study and professional practice. Since the collaboration with AmplifyME began in 2020, over 1,000 Strathclyde students have experienced AmplifyME’s immersive simulations, developing practical skills and discovering their potential in roles like asset management and trading.

Benjamin Porter, BA (Hons) International Business said, “The AmplifyME Bootcamp was an excellent and invaluable experience that provided real insight into financial markets while developing practical, career-ready skills. I gained a much stronger understanding of financial products and how markets operate in practice. It strengthened my confidence, inspired me to explore investment banking roles, and helped clarify my career path.”

Nidhi Gourang Mudbatkal, BA Hons in Business, Business Analysis and Technology and Finance, added, "The AmplifyME Finance Bootcamp has been an extremely valuable experience to me, allowing me to take part in realistic simulations that have strengthened my skills and helped me explore different career roles, giving me a clearer sense of where my interests lie within finance."

Abhijit Dalvi, MSc Finance, said, "The AmplifyME Bootcamp provided a rare, high fidelity look into the mechanics of institutional trading. Transitioning from my MSc and CFA theory to managing a live simulated book allowed me to stress test my decision making and risk management under pressure. It is an essential bridge for anyone looking to navigate the complexities of modern, tech-driven capital markets."
