Business school subjects rank in QS World University Rankings top 100
The QS World University Rankings' subject tables have been published, with the business school's hospitality and tourism programmes and marketing programmes ranking in the top 100.
Our Hospitality and Tourism subject area sits in 48th place globally in the QS ranking and marketing is positioned in the worldwide 51-100 category. The subject tables ranking is a spin-off from the main QS world University Rankings published in June 2025 in which 1,908 institutions were ranked - the ranking featured 55 subjects, grouped into 5 broad subject areas.
Looking across the broader set of business-related subjects ranked from around the world, Strathclyde's Business & Management is ranked 151-200 (up 9 places), Accounting & Finance is ranked 201-250 (up 46 places), and Economics & Econometrics is ranked 301-350 (up 27 places). All of these subjects have improved on their positions from last year.
The QS World University Rankings by Subject are compiled annually to help prospective students identify the leading universities in a particular subject.
The 2026 rankings analysed more than 6,200 institutions worldwide, with over 1,900 universities ranked across 55 subjects, producing over 21,000 individual ranking entries. The rankings are compiled by QS data analysts in partnership with tens of thousands of higher education institutions. They incorporate datapoints from 16.4 million academic papers as well as the views of more than 151,000 academics and 100,000 employers.
Each of the QS rankings are compiled using a core methodology that employs a range of vital factors including student experience, university partnerships, research activity and faculty qualifications.
