Strathclyde economists secure funding for new research into education economics

The Nuffield Foundation has agreed to generously support Strathclyde Business School research on the economics of education and educational policy with £130,283 in funding.
Using Scottish Government data, Dr Markus Gehrsitz, Dr Stuart McIntyre and Professor Graeme Roy are building a large panel dataset that follows every Scottish pupil from primary school until one year after they leave high school. This new resource will be used for quantitative analyses of education policy and practices and to evaluate policy interventions. The research team will showcase these opportunities by studying the effect of primary school class size on pupil attainment and post-graduation destinations in Scotland. The project will run until the end of 2020.
