Vlatka Skokic has won the highly prestigious Institute of Travel and Tourism (ITT) Award for PhD Research Student of the Year 2009, sponsored by AA Appointments. ITT is committed to supporting high quality research and to enhancing partnerships between the travel and tourism sector and British universities. The award is determined by a panel of academic experts in response to applications submitted in an open competition.

Vlatka's research combines the areas of entrepreneurship and tourism entrepreneurship in transition economies, thus focusing on the socio-economic context where entrepreneurs are embedded. Professor Alison Morrison and Dr Paul Lynch, Department of Management, are her supervisors and she is in her final year of study.

The 2009 student awards were presented by Janet Anderson MP at the House of Commons in July. Each winner was awarded with a certificate and a book token provided by the category sponsor.
