Ernst & Young 2012 Prize for third year MDP students

Ernst & Young, one of the most successful professional services firms in the world, traditionally sponsors a prize for the best team project and presentation in the third year of the Management Development Programme class.

Students during semester one researched a significant social-ethical issue in a selected organisation and as internal consultants presented their recommendations for action. The top three teams - selected from 560 students - presented to staff at the Ernst & Young's Glasgow Office on Tuesday 31 January 2012.

The students who participated in this final round (around 3% of all students in MDP3), all presented professionally and confidently, handling difficult questions and demonstrating their understanding of the role of ethical action/behaviours in business in the 21st century.

First prize was awarded to team 1G for their presentation on issues surrounding the development of the Trump International Golf Links being developed in Aberdeenshire. The winning team consisted of Kirsti Boyton, Iain Cameron, Emma Grieve, Alison Lee, Alice Leyshon, Peter McLoughlin and Lindsay Sprint.

The two teams sharing second place were: team 3J (Nicholas Kerr, Laura Moffat and Anton Stsjolokov) whose presentation related to Diego and issues surrounding minimum alcohol pricing and team 7A (Jane Cross, Menghan Gao, Scott Hart, Siri Johnsen, William Noon and Lingyu Pan) who presented on alcohol sponsorship in football clubs.

Ernst & Young employee Marc Egan commented that "We at Ernst & Young are incredibly proud to be a sponsor of the Strathclyde Management Development Programme. This is a leading employability programme enabling students to develop and build upon skills that are essential for employment, and greatly valued by Ernst & Young. We are delighted to have students into our Glasgow office and are continually impressed by the standard of presentations delivered."
