Strathclyde Business School was delighted to be research sponsor for the Scottish plc Awards once again which this year took place on April 18 in Glasgow.
Over the many years of the business school's involvement in this annual event, SBS has undertaken extensive independent research to provide data for the awards' judges to make their decisions on the performance of corporate Scotland during 2011.
Professor Susan Hart, Dean of Strathclyde Business School, was one of the speakers at the awards ceremony, with the theme of her speech being the common characteristics that successful companies share and how universities play an increasingly central role in the delivery of economic development. She spoke in particular of the lead that Strathclyde is taking to be a major contributor to such development.
Commenting on the awards, which are jointly run by Scottish Business Insider and PricewaterhouseCoopers, she said, "This year's awards showcased some excellent performances by the Scottish business community.
"It's clear that, despite current difficulties in the present economic environment, many businesses benefit from strong, collaborative leadership, which is making a difference. SBS already works with several of the award-winning organisations and looks forward to working more closely with the wider Scottish business community."
This year's awards saw a new category introduced - the Digital Value Creation Award - and this year also saw joint winners being announced for the first time in the Sustainability Award category.
