The 42nd ESReDA seminar was held at Strathclyde University on May 15 and 16. The seminar, hosted by Department of Management Science, was on Risk and Reliability for Wind Energy and other Renewable Sources. The seminar was strongly attended by industrial partners, such as ALSTOM, EDF and SSE amongst others, and by research institutions such as Durham University, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems.
The seminar was opened by Strathclyde's Principal, Professor Jim McDonald and a keynote presentation was delivered by Andrew Donaldson of SSE Renewables. One of the highlights of the seminar included a lively roundtable discussion which focused on future challenges relating to reliability and renewable energies.
European Safety, Reliability & Data Association (ESReDA) is a European Association established in 1992 to promote research, application and training in Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS). The Association provides a forum for the exchange of information, data and current research in Safety and Reliability. The Seminar was chaired by Professor Tim Bedford and organised by Dr Matthew Revie, Dr Athena Zitrou, and Dr David McMillan of the Electrical Engineering Department.
