Technology Roadmapping: Policy Workshop Update

The success of the two-day policy workshop on Technology Roadmapping at SBS on May 3 and 4, which included a public lecture from Robert Crawford, has led to a number of follow on activities to engage with the audience of the workshop.

First, a network has been built on LinkedIn to develop and enhance relationships with those who attended. The organisers intend that this will lead to collaborations, working alongside each other on similar projects focusing on knowledge exchange and innovation policy. Secondly, we have submitted an ESRC Festival of Social Science 2012 application for sponsorship of an event, Technology Roadmapping Taster for SMEs. The event involves working in partnership with members of IfM ECS, University of Cambridge (participants in our workshop) to deliver a three-hour workshop to SMEs interested in understanding and incorporating Technology Roadmapping in their business planning. Third, we are in discussion with our US contact, Sharon Ballard to look at how commercialisation of nano-material can be accelerated through Technology Roadmapping. Lastly, we are following up the talk delivered by Allyson Reed to investigate how we can apply Technology Roadmapping in the life sciences industry and in water management.

The organisers would like to thank all those who have so far participated in the workshops and the final outcomes of the project will be included in next month's SBS newsletter.
