Economics doctoral students get results

The Economics Department's PhD students have been able to provide some good news to the department:

Irene Asienga is to be congratulated on the award of her PhD in Economics "Investment in fencing and its contribution to agricultural production in semi-arid Kenya". She has now returned to her post as a University Lecturer in Nairobi.

Jacqueline Guildea is also to be congratulated, following the successful defence of her PhD thesis at the end of May. Only minor amendments are required.

Shane Clark (3rd year PhD student) has just heard his paper has been accepted for the Behavioural Finance and Economics Conference in New York this September.

Fraser Knox (3rd year PhD student) is going to be spending eight weeks over the summer working as an Intern within the VAT and International Excise Team in HM Treasury.

Marie Tamba (2nd year PhD student) received the award of 'Best Student Poster' at the University Research Day. The poster highlighted aspects of her research on how Scotland can achieve a low-cost, low-carbon energy system.

Struan Noble (1st year PhD student) has been successful in obtaining funding for the remainder of his PhD from the Environment, Climate Change and Energy pathway of the ESRC Scottish Graduate School of Social Science. He managed to secure the only studentship on offer within this pathway and was up against a very competitive field.
