Accounting and Finance students have organised a speaker panel event for November 6. Entitled "The Future of Corporate Financing", the event will see speakers answering questions from the audience. The speakers will be two representatives from the Scottish Investment Bank, one from BlackRock and the CFO of Clydesdale Bank. It has been organised to give students who are interested in this area, for careers or otherwise, the opportunity to come along and talk to some industry experts. Drinks and food will be available afterwards in room JA325.
MDP 3 students will work as mentors to the pupils who are all from areas of low participation in Higher Education. This work will count as a 3rd year MDP Project option. Innovative Routes to Learning (IRL) at the University of Strathclyde is working in partnership with Glasgow City Council to develop a Leadership programme for senior secondary school pupils. IRL have developed a series of activities designed to give participating pupils a focus on University study and, in particular, widening access.
The University of Strathclyde’s input is designed to have dual purpose with regard to the impact on participating pupils: raising awareness of, and aspiration to attend, Higher Education and in particular University; and the support of the development of a range of skills such as leadership, team-work; self-management; problem-solving; research; discussion and presentation, which are required for pupils to gain their Leadership Award.
A total of 30 pupils in all should take part in the programme.
