Tickets still available for Independence events

Tickets can still be purchased for two events focusing on the question of independence featuring Alex Salmond and Alistair Darling.

In what is one of the first major public event about independence, First Minister Alex Salmond will appear in conversation with broadcaster Jon Snow on November 23. This will be followed by 'Better Together' leader Alistair Darling being questioned at a second event on December 6 by Herald and Sunday Herald writer Alan Taylor.

The events are part of the Fraser of Allander Institute and Herald Group lecture series and are being run in partnership wih the International Network of Street Papers (INSP). Jon Snow is an INSP ambassador and proceeds from the ticket sales will go towards its work alleviating poverty, and supporting street papers in Scotland and around the world.

The conversations, which focus on independence and its implications for Scotland and the United Kingdom, will also cover social justice and media independence. There will also be an opportunity for members of the audience to question the speakers.

The lecture series has established a reputation for dealing with major issues of national and international importance, and this series will make a major contribution to the independence debate as plans for the referendum get underway.
