New Quantitative Finance programme

Strathclyde Business School and the Faculty of Science have developed a new specialism for its existing portfolio of accounting and finance masters programmes: the MSc Quantitative Finance. The department of Accounting and Finance has got together with the departments of Mathematics and Statistics, and Computer and Information Sciences, to launch this innovative cross-faculty programme.

Globally, financial tools, products and software are become increasingly complex and sophisticated, and there is a need for the finance industry to self-regulate as it witnesses unprecedented growth. Market-aware finance graduates, who can clearly demonstrate an understanding of the mathematical models used to develop these products and their computer implementations, will be much in demand by international organisations.

Drawing on expert academic input from the three departments - Accounting and Finance, Mathematics and Statistics, and Computer and Information Sciences - this one year programme has been developed to fully prepare students for careers within areas such as financial engineering and risk management, and for highly quantitative roles, such as hedge fund managers and financial analysts.
