A newly graduated MBM student, Harshdeep Singh, has been awarded one of ten Graduate Entrepreneur visas under a scheme introduced this year by the Home Office.
The Home Office has offered 1000 Visas under the scheme, shared between participating institutions. To be awarded a visa, Harshdeep had to present a business idea to a panel of individuals from the university, including individuals from the Careers Service, the Strathclyde Entrepreneurial Network, Strathclyde University Incubator, the Scottish Enterprise Innovation unit and the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship.
He said, “My business proposal is to create a solution to solve the problem people face while doing professional networking. This solution will let people meet the right person in any social event. This will help people enhance their networking activities before, during and after an event.”
The business plan was one that Harshdeep put forward for the International Create Challenge (ICC) at the IDIAP research centre, Martigny, Switzerland, earlier this year. ICC is a three-week immersive super accelerator programme that gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to drive their projects to a Minimum Viable Product. Although it didn’t win outright, Harshdeep’s team was among the top 12 participants at the ICC.
