The Department of Management held a highly successful networking event in SBS where participants from our Executive Masters in Hospitality and Tourism Leadership – key figures in the hospitality and tourism industry –met with students to share their knowledge and experience by means of a panel discussion and networking event.
The evening consisted of a panel discussion, chaired by Strathclyde Business Fellow David Cochrane, which explored some of the hottest topics in the sector including the impact of online travel agents on the industry. Students were then able to ‘speed date’ with executives to discuss issues relating to their studies or CV and network over drinks where honours year and MRes students showcased their research through poster presentations.
The event was attended by a wide range of students from first year undergraduate to final year PhD from a variety of departments across the Business School.
Organiser Fiona Conway, Director of UG Hospitality and Tourism Management, said, “A fantastic energy was generated by the interaction and debate with students enjoying engagement with industry professionals on a one-to-one basis and the wider discussion with fellow students at different stages in their academic careers. It is hoped that this event will be the first of many to come so watch this space!”
