Two Strathclyde students successfully defended their Tata Crucible UK Business Quiz title for 2012, beating London Business School in the finals.
Anup Karath Nair, postgraduate research student in the Department of Management, partnered with Michael Doroszenko, Department of Electrical Engineering to win the coveted title of UK champions for the third year in succession at the 5th annual Tata Crucible UK Campus Quiz 2012 which was held at the IET London Savoy Place on November 25.
Anup and Michael managed to retain their hold on the much coveted trophy after fighting off a stiff competition from London Business School in what was described by Quizmaster ‘Pickbrain’ as the closest Crucible Campus Quiz the UK has ever seen. London Business School emerged as the first runners up and University of Manchester emerged as the second runners up. Both the teams were hot on the tail of Strathclyde until the last few questions of the competition. Lord McNally, Minister of State for Justice and deputy leader of the House of Lords was the chief guest for the evening along with Dr Ralf Speth, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover and gave away the prizes and the trophy to the winners. The students got a trophy and a cash prize of £4000. The Strathclyde team, along with the team from London Business School, will travel later in 2013 to compete against the top two teams from Singapore and India for the international championship in April 2013.
