MBA team compete in Npower energy challenge

A group of full time MBA students have teamed up to take part in the Npower Energy Challenge, an inter-university competition, and will be participating in the UK heat next month (February).

The challenge has undergraduate and MBA student categories with a prize fund of £5,000 and an opportunity for an internship.

The four students - Tabish Raza, Pratik Prasun, Praveen Patel and Hemant Chandran – successfully got through the first round of the competition, which was to write a 500 word summary of their ideas on, "How can energy providers engage more positively with customers?"

They have now been asked to participate in the UK Heat on February 8 in Didcot where they will be invited to present their idea to a panel of judges at ‘mini heats’- a six minute presentation followed by a 10 minute question and answer session - in the morning. Winners of the morning’s mini heats will then compete against each other, in the afternoon, in a semi -final runoff.

If successful in the UK heat, the MBA students will progress to the third and final stage and teams will be invited to London to present their ideas to the CEO of Npower Mr Paul Massara.

Hemant Chandran added, "Irene Aitkenhead Taylor motivated us to participate in this competition and she helped us identify contacts in the business school's Global Energy Management course. They helped us critique our ideas which in turn helped us form a great presentation for the mini heats."
