An inaugural International Business School Network professional development and networking event held in Hong Kong on March 14 has been heralded a great success. This first event was attended by nine of the 11 triple accredited schools in the network and brought together senior representatives and a total of 220 alumni from the partner institutions.
The event was hosted by City University Hong Kong and jointly organised with Queensland University of Technology in Australia. Elaine Collinson, Director of UG International Programmes and Melissa McCrindle, head of marketing and student recruitment, represented SBS at the event.
Alumni were treated to a talk by one of Hong Kong's leading professionals, Jim Thompson, chairman and founder of the multinational Crown Worldwide which was entitled "Moving the World - the Crown Story". Crown Worldwide is a leader in mobility management, relocations, records management and logistics services throughout the world. A privately-held company established in 1965, with global headquarters in Hong Kong, the company operates over 250 locations in 55 countries, serving governments, corporations, diplomats and private customers.
Mr Thompson received gifts representative of each school's country of origin as an appreciation of his contribution to the evening.
Alumni from all the triple accredited schools represented also had the opportunity to meet with their peers from other institutions, working and living in Hong Kong and establish new networks.
Strathclyde Business School is one of 11 triple accredited schools in the network collaborating on innovative events and programmes. Members include – Aston Business School, UK, Catolica Lisbon in Portugal, City University Hong Kong, HEC Montreal in Canada, ESCP Europe in France, Maastricht University in the Netherlands, Mannheim University, Germany, Queens University in Canada, Queensland University of Technology in Australia and Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China.
