Newly graduated Alice Leyshon is taking part in a prestigious summer programme at one of the world's top entrepreneurial institutions after being chosen as one of just two UK students to attend.
Alice Leyshon (21) who graduated this summer with a first class honours degree in Business Enterprise has travelled to Boston to take part in the Santander Universities - Babson College Entrepreneurship Program for students. Babson, the top-ranked university for entrepreneurship education in the world, holds this entrepreneurship programme for students from all over the world to attend."
The programme is delivered on campus at the internationally recognised Babson College, in Massachusetts – ranked as the world’s best for entrepreneurship education for the last 20 years by the US News & World report.
Alice was selected amid competition from students throughout the UK, and the former Aberdeen Grammar School pupil is now getting set for a unique insight into entrepreneurship, innovation and value creation.
She said, "I am glad I chose to study at Strathclyde as the hands-on approach to learning and the opportunity to work with entrepreneurs has really given me a fantastic introduction to entrepreneurship.
"I am delighted to have been chosen to attend Babson College for the summer programme and I am really looking forward to getting as much out of the two weeks as I can, and hopefully develop my skills for the future.
"It is my ambition to start my own business and getting the chance to spend time at one of the world’s top colleges is an exciting time for me."
Alice studied in Strathclyde Business School's Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship, endowed by Sir Tom Hunter for study, research and encouragement of entrepreneurship within Scotland.
Professor Sara Carter, head of the Hunter Centre, said, "I am delighted that Strathclyde was invited to participate in the prestigious summer programme at Babson, through our partnership with Santander.
"This fantastic opportunity was offered to the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship's BA (Hons) Business Enterprise graduates who achieved a first class honours degree in 2013. Alice Leyshon is an outstanding candidate for the Babson summer programme and I am sure she will benefit greatly from this international experience and fulfil her entrepreneurial ambitions."
