The David Hume Institute held a seminar for the third of the four 'conversations' on topics related to constitutional change in Scotland on May 7.
This seminar was on the Scottish energy sector and included a paper by Peter McGregor, Kim Swales and Grant Allan (Fraser of Allander Institute, Department of Economics) entitled, "Independence and the market for electricity in Scotland". This paper looked at the potential consequences of independence for Scotland on aspects of Scottish energy security; climate change targets and instruments; the economic development potential from renewable electricity and the affordability of electricity to consumers. The full paper (Research Paper No. 8/2013) is available for download from the David Hume Institute website.
