Marketing department represented at global consumer research conference

The Department of Marketing was again very well represented at the premier global gathering of consumer researchers, the Association for Consumer Research conference held in Chicago Illinois in October 2013 by members of the Consumption, Markets and Society grouping.

Dr Kathy Hamilton contributed to a special session on consumption and social stratification with a paper co-authored with Katherine Trebeck (Oxfam) on "The Consuming City: Economic Stratification and the Glasgow Effect." Ashleigh Logan presented her work on "Re-fashioning Kate: The Making of a Celebrity Princess Brand" (co-authored with supervisors Kathy Hamilton and Paul Hewer).

Dr Paul Hewer presented on the topic of "The Vintagescape as Embodied and Practiced Space" which emerges from the PhD work of Kat Duffy who has now successfully gained her first lectureship position at Essex University.
