Professor's study into SMEs in Singapore

Professor Peter McKiernan, professor of management at Strathclyde Business School and currently Dean of the School of Management and Governance at Murdoch University in Perth, Australia, is the principal investigator on a study which will involve interviews and surveys with manufacturing managers as well as 'key informants' from 200 small to medium enterprises in Singapore. The Singapore government has granted S$529,000 to Murdoch University to carry out this study into the productivity and innovation of Singapore's manufacturing sector.

Professor McKiernan, who continues to teach on the Strathclyde MBA in Malaysia and Singapore, also has a new book out, 'Hidden Champions in CEE and Turkey: Carving out a Global Niche' and it is the first book on globally leading, niche market SMEs in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and Turkey. One of his papers won the Leadership and Governance Stream Award at the recent ANZAM (Australia and New Zealand Academy of Management) conference in Tasmania which took place at Monash University for his co-written paper, "Contextual perspectives of leader sense-giving: Understanding the role of organisational leadership systems".
