Invited speaker at Istanbul Şehir University in Turkey

As invited panellist, Dr Aliakbar Jafari attended an international research seminar on 'Religion in the New Political Economy' in Istanbul Şehir University on 25 September. Organised by Professor Özlem Sandikci of the host institution, the seminar speakers discussed the latest scholarship on the interrelatedness between religion and the market. The main focus of the plenary discussion was on advancing research the impact of neoliberalism on the reconfiguration of religiosity and the emergence of new forms of spirituality in consumer society and markets.

Professor Susan Hart chairs AACSB annual European conference

Executive Dean Professor Susan Hart chaired the AACSB annual European conference on October 9-11 in Grenoble, France.

Conference attendees representing approximately 29 countries attended the conference held on the campus of Grenoble Ecole de Management

Professor Hart was also a speaker on AACSB accreditation standards.

Marketing academic presents to Scottish Government team

Dr Stephen Tagg presented to a group from the Office of the Chief Researcher at the Scottish Government offices at Victoria Quay, Edinburgh, on August 28. He presented on the topic "Text Analysis of online forum contributions".

Economics Professor Organising Major Ageing Conference

The Annual Conference of the British-Irish Longitudinal Studies of Ageing (BILS) Group will be held at the University of Strathclyde on November 20-21. The conference is being organised by Professor Robert Wright (Economics). The aim of BILS is to bring to together researchers to exchange findings and good practise. The conference will be opened by Mr. Alex Neil, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Well-being, Scottish Parliament. Keynote addresses will be delivered by Professor Arie Kapetyn (University of Southern California) and Professor Ian Deary (University of Edinburgh).

Economics Professor Represents ESRC at Impact Conference

Professor Robert Wright (Economics) delivered an address at the "Responding to Impact Challenges: Learning from ESRC Investments" conference held in London at City University on October 1. The conference was organised by the European Social Survey (ESS). Professor Wright spoke mainly about how to maximise the impact of social science research, which is now an ESRC's strategic priority.
