Innovate UK, formerly the Technology and Strategy Board, has recognised the excellence of the KTP between Scottish Water and Management Science academics at Strathclyde and Edinburgh Universities.
The KTP project built better models to support asset management decisions and provided key input to the Scottish Water 25 year Strategic Investment Plan for asset maintenance and renewal. Through the KTP, Scottish Water has developed its internal analytics capability and strong relationships with the academic partners resulting in additional joint projects, published research articles and support for educational activities, such as MSc projects, case studies and participation in the Strathclyde Risk Consortium.
The Strathclyde team involved Lesley Walls, Matthew Revie and John Quigley from Management Science. The KTP associate, Graeme Blair, was a graduate of the MSc in Operational Research and is now employed as a Data Scientist with Scottish Water.
