International award for achievements in standardisation

Professor Lesley Walls, Management Science, has been selected for a 1906 Award from the International Electrotechnical Committee (IEC). The IEC is the leading global organization that prepares and publishes International Standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies.

The 1906 Award commemorates the IEC's year of foundation, and honours IEC experts from around the world who are recognised for exceptional achievement. Professor Walls has led projects related to methods for risk and reliability analysis as well as acting as a subject matter expert. These projects have led to new IEC standards that are used by industry worldwide.

Currently, Professor Walls is project leader for a global team revising one of the most important technical reliability standards on Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, which is core to, for example, Risk Management and Asset Management.
