The launch of the second Babcock MBA cohort took place on February 16 in London at the Blue Fin Building with the induction of this new cohort also taking place.
Executive Dean of Strathclyde Business School Professor Susan Hart and members of the MBA delivery team were present to meet with the new Babcock class, while representatives of Babcock including board members Kevin Goodman and Peter Rogers were also in attendance alongside members of the first cohort who shared their experiences of the MBA with the new participants.
The Babcock MBA started in September 2013 - a bespoke corporate MBA programme for individuals identified as part of the company's long term succession planning.
There was widespread interest within Babcock for the bespoke MBA programme and 25 people were selected to join the programme. These individuals represent three UK divisions of Babcock - Marine and Technology; Defence and Security; and Support Services and International. The group includes includes participants from South Africa. This group will complete the MBA over 2.5 years with graduation expected in November 2017. Teaching takes place in Glasgow and London, with sessions running every two months for three days each time. The first class will be The Learning Manager in Glasgow on March 30.
This month also saw the launch of the second cohort of Iberdrola MBA, a bespoke MBA for the energy company. This took place in Madrid from February 9-13, and is delivered with Comillas University in Madrid.
This Master's degree (which takes two and a half years to complete) combines the usual MBA subjects with an energy-sector specific curriculum. Students with managerial potential from the UK, Spain, the US, Mexico and Brazil enrolled in the first cohort. The MBA is taught at Strathclyde and Comillas, with an innovative and practical curriculum and the participation of managers from Iberdrola Group. The aim of this MBA is to develop managerial and leadership skills relevant to the energy industry’s global context and the specific goals of the Iberdrola Group, a company with an important international profile ranking among the world's main utilities.
