Strathclyde University Oman Alumni organised the annual Strathclyde Dialogue at the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS), SBS's partner in Oman, and this time it focused on Social Media Marketing. The event was attended by over 100 Strathclyde alumni, entrepreneurs, professionals from private and public sectors, CBFS management and faculty members. The event was also open to enthusiasts keen to learn more about the dos and dont's of social media marketing.
This annual event of the Strathclyde Oman Alumni serves as a networking platform for the more than 350 Strathclyde alumni members serving in large corporate and government organisations of the Sultanate. They come together to refresh their knowledge on important topics to keep themselves updated with current trends and be a lifelong learning manager.
"Strathclyde Dialogue on Social Media Marketing" was moderated by Professor Ron Bradfield, Director, Strathclyde Business School UAE. Her Highness Sayyida Basma Al Said, owner and founder of Whispers of Serenity Clinic presented on Social Media Marketing Essentials for SMEs. Mr Ali Bakhit Kashoob, Senior Manager Product Development & Marketing at Omantel, presented on Social Media at Large Corporate and Mr Stefano Virgilli, General Manager of VOX Labs, presented on Social Media Marketing Evolution in the Sultanate of Oman and the way forward. The dialogue was designed to be a comprehensive program on the said subject and held the interest of the audience.
Dr Yasmin Al Balushi, Assistant Dean for Academic Support and Student Affairs, was pleased with the results of the event and encouraged the alumni to hold such programmes on a regular basis. She welcomed the learning and support exchange between the alumni members who were professionals in their field and the current students as guides to the corporate world. Ms Asma Al Zadjali, the Chairperson of Oman Alumni Group, urged the Strathclyde University graduates to participate in all activities of the Alumni and lend support in enriching continued learning and development process of its fellow members while thanking the attendees.
The subject of the event was timely as the Oman government is supporting the development of Small and Medium Enterprises through its various efforts. Social Media Marketing is gaining momentum and many businesses are using it to their advantage. The correct use of such tools can be of a big advantage to the business entrepreneurs, owners and managers, added Ms Al Zadjali.
