MBA 'lunch and learn' event returns

Following the success of last year's 'Lunch and Learn' events, the Careers team in the MBA Unit kicked off this year's series of events with MBA alumni Dave Pratt, Chairman at PanAmerican Geophysical Company Ltd and Alan Scott, Business Assurance Manager, Energy Portfolio Management at SSE plc coming back to the campus.

The speakers joined eager full-time and part-time MBA students for a short presentation and networking lunch at the start of this month where the sector focus was 'energy'.

After a short introduction from both speakers, detailing their career paths since undertaking an MBA and their main areas of expertise, the floor was opened up for questions with some interesting discussion and debate ensuing. Topics included the opportunities in Nigeria for the energy sector as well as some questions around Scotland’s involvement in renewable energy and how this may look in the future.

Mojisola Ogunsulire, full time MBA student said, "As a manager focused on the energy sector, it was wonderful to have the opportunity to meet Strathclyde alumni with deep experience in the oil, gas and power sectors."

Alexios Papachronopoulos echoed Mojisola's comments, saying, "This event was really helpful in terms of networking and I really enjoyed it. I look forward for to the next event."

The next events take place on June 2, 3 and 10 when students will be joined by Margaret Gibson, Chief Executive of Women's Enterprise Scotland, Alan Thornburrow, Chief Executive of Scottish Investment Operations (SIO) and Bob Wylie, a former award winning BBC journalist who has set up his own communications consultancy, Communication Strategies Ltd.
