Professor David Hillier has been appointed as the new Executive Dean of Strathclyde Business School, and takes over the leadership of SBS from Professor Susan Hart, who demitted office after seven very successful years to become Associate Deputy Principal for Marketing at the University.
A professor of Finance, David Hillier is a long-term Strathclyder having originally joined the university in 1993 as a research assistant in the Department of Accounting & Finance. He left in 2005 to be the Ziff Centenary Chair in Financial Markets at the University of Leeds and returned to Strathclyde in 2010, taking the role of Vice-Dean of the Business School shortly afterwards. Professor Hillier is a world renowned academic, the author of a large number of Finance textbooks, and recognised as being in the top 3% of the most prolific finance researchers in the world over the past fifty years (Heck and Cooley, 2009).
On his appointment, Professor Hillier said, "As one of four faculties in a leading international technological university, Strathclyde Business School is rightly regarded as a market leader in applied business research and education.
