Executive education programmes move forward

The Centre for Corporate Connections continues its activities in executive education with our partner companies, including most recently Iberdrola and Babcock:

Iberdrola MBA

The second cohort of Iberdrola began their MBA programme with a launch at Strathclyde which took place in the Technology and Innovation Centre on June 9. This was also the first, and only, time both the first and second cohorts will be at Strathclyde together as cohort 1 were completing their final SCiP class ahead of their graduation in November.

Principal of the University Professor Sir Jim McDonald, CCO of Scottish Power Keith Anderson, and Executive Dean at SBS Professor David Hillier all welcomed the participants.

Laney Brown, Director, Smart Grid Planning and Programs at Iberdrola USA, said, "The Iberdrola MBA program with the University has been an incredible opportunity. I have directly applied the learnings from the courses on a daily basis. I was able to apply one of our professor’s research to Iberdrola USA’s regulatory filing and it has helped change the dialogue around valuing different types of technology investments in the US. I would have never had that global insight without this program.

"I also feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to engage with such a great group of colleagues across Iberdrola. The connections that we have made through the program have provided real context and understanding across all of our business units."

Babcock DRIVE

The Babcock DRIVE Change Showcase was hosted at Blue Fin in London last month (May 28) and was attended by Kevin Goodman and a number of Human Resource Directors as well as a number of representatives from Strathclyde Business School.

Participants on this programme attended two days teaching with Brian Martin here at CCC in November and the group has had a number of follow up webinars to track the benefits and progress whilst working on their change projects.

During the final Showcase session, participants from the Change module present their final outcomes to a panel which included the module sponsor from Babcock, Tim Redfern. The overall best projects were awarded to Jaynie Davies and Martyn Finney.
