A team from Strathclyde took two first prizes in the UK final of the CIMA Global Business Challenge on June 19 in London, and came second overall. The students, from across the business school, are second year students Jasmin Droege, Jan Jindra, Ioana Lupu and Antoaneta Bilyanska.
They won 1st prize for Best Report, 1st prize for Best Video and came 2nd overall, narrowly missing out on the overall prize which went to the University of Cambridge. Ioana Lupu also got an honourable mention for 'best presenter' category.
CIMA Global Business Challenge is an international business competition for undergraduates around the world. It is organised by CIMA – Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. It has 3 stages – report writing; UK final of the teams with highest marks from the report; and global final, with one team representing each participating country.
Jan said, "We have learned much while preparing for the competition, and we gained great support from our mentor Dr Nikolaos Danias who contributed valuable insights and recommendations.”
Dr Nikolaos Danias of Economics who accompanied them said, "We have been delighted to support them throughout this Challenge. They have worked so hard and I think they did extremely well in this competition and have found it a very useful experience."
