Participants of the second cohort of the Babcock MBA and members of the Programme Team in the Centre for Corporate Connections visited the Rosyth Naval Dockyard for a tour of the site and the HMS Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carrier. The Carrier, one of the biggest naval engineering projects in the UK, is being assembled and fitted out at Rosyth and will be complete for trials by 2016 and fully operational by 2020.
The visit was hosted by Babcock MBA participants from Marine & Technology Division who are directly involved in this project. MBA participants are selected across all divisions of the organisation and this was an invaluable opportunity to explore this area of the business and have a guided tour of a unique vessel.
Visits to other Babcock sites are planned for the participants to develop wider knowledge and greater understanding of the business, and experience a range of different perspectives and insight from their MBA colleagues in other divisions of Babcock International Group.
Babcock is the UK's leading engineering support services organisation with revenue of over £4.5bn in 2015 and an order book of circa £20 billion.
