MSc in Global Energy Management - Spotlight

Newly graduated Max Crawford talks about his experience of the MSc in Global Energy Management programme and how his internship led to a permanent job. Other GEM graduates have been employed by companies such as EDF Energy, Atlantic Super Connection, Doosan Babcock, Iberdrola, SgurrEnergy, LoCo2 Energy Ltd and Wood Mackenzie.

The programme has a high industry engagement policy with guest speakers in November including Chris Stark, Head, energy division, Scottish Government; Clare Lavelle (Energy Consultancy Business Lead) & Natasha Schlichtkrull (Consultant and former GEM student); Kersti Berge, Head Scotland, Ofgem.

The new class also took part in a field trip in November, with a site tour of Hunterston B Nuclear Power Station on November 18. The class visited during a period of statutory outage for one of the reactors at Hunterston B and received a fascinating insight into the operations of the station, including views of the control room, observing operatives working on top of the reactor and access to the control room simulator. The team at Hunterston were very informed and answered the many questions posed by the students.
