Students on the MSc Global Energy Management programme organised and took part in the third Energy Master Exchange Programme (EMEP) as part of their course this March.
The Strathclyde students first of all travelled to Dauphine University in Paris on March 7 for the exchange which had a theme of ‘Smart Grids’. There, with their peers on the Masters of Carbon Finance course, they learned more about Smart Grids in the French context, visiting ERDF and Schneider Electric’s headquarters.
The French students arrived at Strathclyde Business School on March 17, with a civic reception at the Glasgow City Chambers being the first port of call. They heard from Strathclyde University Principal Sir Jim McDonald and the head of Strathclyde’s Institute for Future Cities Richard Bellingham who provided insight into Glasgow’s performance as a sustainable city.
Talks from CISCO representatives about smart grid technology and a site visit to Whitelee windfarm, the UK’ largest onshore windfarm, were also part of the exchange visit.
